What Is Cheque Fraud?
Cheque fraud is one the financial crimes currently undergoing the fastest growth. According to projections, this type of fraud will increase by 25% a year. It is estimated that commercial fraud, namely cheque fraud, costs North American businesses more than $20 billion CDN each year. Cheque fraud takes on mostly three forms:- Counterfeiting : A cheque that has not been written out nor authorized by the legitimate account holder (fraud source currently with the highest growth).
- Forgery : A stolen cheque that has not been signed by the account holder.
- Bogus : A cheque that has been properly issued by the account holder but that has been intercepted and whose payee or amount has been altered.
History
Considering that it would always be more difficult for a counterfeiter to manufacture paper than to use printing techniques, FormulÉclair has been offering its customers since 2000 to print their cheques on paper incorporating security features. The proportion of customers having opted for this type of paper has become such that we now have to talk about a standard; that is why we decided to print cheques on other types of paper. Bent on honouring the trust that our customers were giving us, we could no longer be “accomplices” to the risks run by those who did not wish to protect themselves against possible fraud.Our Security-featured Paper

Security and Responsibility
Let it be clear: FormulÉclair secure paper is no absolute warranty against fraud. Nor does it release the cheque purchaser from their responsibilities concerning the secure use of their cheques (especially protection against theft).However, acquiring and using cheques with security features shows good will toward protection and could be taken into consideration in case of conflict with the bank should there be fraud.
As printers, we offer you protection at a level where we can make a difference!
- We can assure you that your cheques will not be altered without that showing (knowing that counterfeiters will always be there looking for new ways to get round barriers put in their path).
- We can assure you that counterfeiters will not be able to print cheques identical in all points to yours.
- We can assure you that by using the cheques with secure features that we print, you will be considered as having taken precautions.
